This week I was incredibly fortunate to be invited to a press preview of the newly launched The Wedding Gallery that is located right in the heart of London at wedding and events venue One Marylebone. If walking up to the venue isn’t breathtaking enough, stepping inside the 20,000 ft space is enough to stop anyone in their tracks. It truly is beautiful and a real testament to the level of detail you can expect from any one of the 15 wedding planning consultants and stylists found inside, and the multi-million pound refurbishment has resulted in a space that is set to become the epicentre of wedding planning in the UK and beyond.
SO WHAT EXACTLY IS THE WEDDING GALLERY?
Available by appointment only, The Wedding Gallery brings 250 brands together under one roof to offer you an experience you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Essentially, this is the first wedding department store of it’s kind worldwide, helping London become the city for all things wedding. If you’re interested in paying a visit yourself you can choose from four different styles of appointment:
First Look, £0, Duration: 75 minutes
This appointment allows you to visit the space to familiarise yourself with The Wedding Gallery before booking a more in depth appointment. This is ideal for those looking to better understand what is on offer before parting with any money, but keep in mind that it doesn’t give you access to bridal or grooms wear.
Bridal Styling, £30, Duration: 60 minutes
You’ll be guided through all of the bridal wear departments by one of The Wedding Gallery’s stylists helping you find the perfect outfit for your big day but you won’t just be shown through wedding dresses, oh no, you’ll also walk through lingerie, shoes, bridesmaids fashion, accessories and jewellery with up to 3 guests and a glass of fizz to give you the full Wedding Gallery experience.
Menswear Styling, £30, Duration: 60 minutes
The Wedding Gallery isn’t just catering for brides, but the groom too. With the help of a Wedding Gallery stylist you’ll be walked through everything you may need for the day including shirts, ties, shoes and accessories from the finest Saville Row brands through to the most up and coming designers. Just like the bridal appointment, this experience can be enjoyed with up to 3 guests and you’ll be able to enjoy it with a glass of fizz.
Consultancy, £50, Duration: 75 minutes
Regardless of where you may be in the wedding planning process, visiting The Wedding Gallery for a consultancy appointment will see you sit with an expert consultant who can help you with guidance on your budget breakdown, support on the look and feel of your day or can help you find the perfect photographer or ideal band. These take place in The Wedding Gallery’s private meeting room’s that overlook the impressive Lower Level space below, and can be enjoyed with up to 4 guests with a glass of fizz.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Stepping through a secret door in The Wedding Gallery’s reception area, you’ll be welcomed into the Mezzanine Level where you’ll first be taken to the Trends Area to learn what is up and coming in the wedding world, before moving to Perfumery where you’ll find brands including Jo Malone and Roja Parfums before reaching Urban Retreat where you can receive hair, makeup and beauty treatments overseen by Creative Directors Ruby Hammer and Andrew Barton. It’s safe to say that The Wedding Gallery don’t do things by half, and the advice and knowledge the staff on hand possess is second to none so you can rest safe in the knowledge that The Wedding Gallery team know weddings like nobody else.
Continuing through the Mezzanine Level you will also find The Wedding Shop Gift List Boutique, the Jewellery Department (where they’re even making rings on site!), a library filled with the portfolios of all 250 brands involved, a screening room where you can take a look at the work of filmmakers and photographers, a private members club (that you become a member of for 12 months after completing the 75 minute consultancy with The Wedding Gallery), tasting rooms to enjoy all of the culinary delights on offer, a bar and a number of private meeting rooms. Phew, that’s a mouthful!
From the Mezzanine Level you’ll be taken down a staircase to the Lower Level where capsule collections from some of the world’s most renowned designers are unveiled. There truly is something for everyone at The Wedding Gallery, boasting designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Elie Saab, Halfpenny London and Temperley London to Bo & Luca, Needle & Thread, Amanda Wakeley and Suzanne Neville with many more to explore during your visit. Plus you can find Clarke and Wedgewood favourites Brides Do Good here who do incredible work to help eradicate forced child marriages worldwide and you can find out more about their amazing work here.
For the groom, collections from Gieves & Hawkes, Thom Sweeney and Casely-Hayford (just to name a few) are brought together to offer the groom fashion-forward menswear to guide gentleman on achieving their perfect wedding look.
The Wedding Gallery doesn’t just offer fashion to the bride and groom to be, and by continuing through the Lower Level you’ll be greeted by a plethora of florists, cake designers and stationers. I strongly believe this is one of the best ways to understand exactly what you can expect if you were to choose any one of these brands to include in your big day as you walk into a truly immersive space where florists including Rob van Helden, Wild at Heart and Pinstripes & Peonies have transformed the space into a floral wonderland allowing you to imagine exactly how they could transform the venue you have in mind for your own big day.
Here you’ll also find the work of leading stationers such as Cutture, Armorial and Ruth Kaye Design showcasing everything from the traditional to the uber contemporary with everything you could need for your own special day including menus, save the date’s, invitations and place names just to name a few. It’s here you’ll also find edible works of art from cake designers such as Rosalind Miller, Nevie-Pie Cakes and Laduree.
At the end of your time at The Wedding Gallery, you’ll leave with a copy of the ‘Wedding Edit’ in hand, which is a beautiful booklet detailing the suppliers and brands that best suit your personal style. The team at The Wedding Gallery aren’t there to bombard you with information from all 250 brands on board in the hope you’ll pursue one through them, instead The Wedding Gallery are there to really help you get to grips with who can help you achieve your dream and will only provide you with information that will actually make your journey there as easy and stress-free as possible.
At the event the mastermind behind The Wedding Gallery (and beauty, retail and events entrepreneur) George Hammer said…
“Today is a monumental day for the wedding industry as we witness the beginning of a seismic shift in the way couples plan their celebration. Over the past 24 months whilst planning this project, I’ve experienced first-hand the passion, dedication and limitless creativity of suppliers within the wedding world and I’m thrilled to be able to provide couples with the opportunity to experience this all under one roof.”
I can honestly say that I believe The Wedding Gallery is about to cause a shift in the way wedding planning is offered in both the United Kingdom and worldwide by offering an experience you can’t find anywhere else. I truly hope that this will force the whole industry to take notice as your wedding day is such a momentous occasion there’s no room for half-hearted ‘help’, but if you still need a little more convincing keep scrolling to see more images of what this incredible space has to offer…
P.S Keep an eye out for the insane swan chair bought purely for selfies, they really have thought of everything!
